Zero Technology Week!

As part of our ‘Games’ topic, Orion class will be participating in a ‘zero technology week’ in school. This will be taking place next week (commencing 3^rd October – remember that the Monday is a TD Day therefore the children are not in school).

During this week we will be exploring and experiencing what life at school might have been like before the boom of technology, during the early 1900s and the Victorian era. We will be learning to write short-hand and create games that children would have played prior to phones, iPads and video games.

To finish off the week Orion Class will be holding a ‘Victorian day’ where the children will experience a full school day in the style of a Victorian school. For this day the children are welcome to come in Victorian costume to really get into the mood of the week! Google some costume ideas for inspiration!

As well as having ‘zero technology week’ in school, the children have a challenge to continue this task at home. This means no phones, iPads, video games, sound systems, computers or television! This is a perfect opportunity for families to get together to play board games, read stories, get out to the great outdoors or do some arts and crafts. Miss Tarrant, Mrs Bacon and Mrs Smith will be trying their hardest to not use technology at home either!
