Dear Parents/Carers,

RE: Slam Poetry Competition – Thursday 1^st December

Slam poetry is a form of poetry developed in the United States. It is a type of performance poetry which is performed in a competition in front of a panel of judges. Orion class have been learning about slam poetry this term. We have written our own slam poetry and would love to share them with you in our own slam poetry competition!

The competition will be held on Thursday 1^st December in front of a panel of judges made up of children, staff and governors! It will take place at 2pm in the school hall.

Please inform Miss Tarrant if you, or another family member, would like to attend so that we have an estimate of numbers.

I have not given home learning books back this week as the homework this weekend will be for the children to become familiar with reading their poem; trying to learn it off by heart. They are performance poems therefore encourage your child to put as much expression in as possible!
